Call on Netflix to Remove 'You People'

The Netflix film ‘You People’ is the #1 worldwide streaming piece of content on the entertainment giant … and it is filled with harmful and dishonest depictions of Jews:

Cheap jokes about the Holocaust.
Stereotypical depictions of Jewish women with large noses.
Suggestions that it’s commonplace for Jewish families to accrue generational wealth, largely through connections and not work.

This film, and these ideas, have been watched for more than 55 million hours this week alone.

URGE NETFLIX TO REMOVE THE FILM 'YOU PEOPLE' FOR ITS DISGUSTING DEPICTIONS OF JEWS.

Moreover, the film's depiction of a Muslim family as devotees of Louis Farrakhan is insulting. Farrakhan is a virulent antisemite; he once compared Jews to termites, and his hatred of the Jewish people is well-documented.

‘You People’ compares slavery in the American South to the Holocaust, an unhelpful comparison that is insulting to victims of both atoricites. The film portrays Jews as profiteers of slavery — a baseless and offensive claim that has been used to perpetuate anti-Semitic beliefs for centuries. And the movie’s Jewish mother apologizes on behalf of all Jews and white people to black people — a ridiculous gesture that absurdly categorizes Jews as white and as historical oppressors of blacks.

Especially in a time when antisemitic hate crimes are on the rise, it is unacceptable for Netflix to continue to air content that perpetuates these harmful and untrue narratives. The Jewish people — like all people — deserve to be portrayed accurately and respectfully in media, and this film fails to do so.

WE URGE NETFLIX TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION AND REMOVE 'YOU PEOPLE' FROM THEIR PLATFORM TO SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE THAT OFFENSIVE AND HARMFUL DEPICTIONS OF JEWS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND TO SHOW THEIR COMMITMENT TO PROMOTING ACCURATE AND RESPECTFUL REPRESENTATION IN ALL OF ITS CONTENT.
